Our species are spectacularly good at making up excuses for not doing things. I mean, fearing you gain a couple of pounds if you quit smoking has got to be one of the best you ever heard - is being (temporarily) a little pudgier really a bigger problem than a slow and uncomfortable death because you don't want to kick the habit?
Weight gains or weight losses are completely seperate things that you must not let interfere with your capacity to successfully quit smoking effortlessly and permanently.
As the old saying goes 'everyone is different'. We all have our own unique metabolisms so that some can eat masses of horrifying goodies and still stay thin as a rake, while others (like yours truly) simply need to saunter past the bakery to bust the top button of our pants - it just isn't fair!
The topic of metabolism isn't an easy one so suffice to say that every person reacts differently i.e. If you have a high metabolism it's likely you'll either acquire no extra weight at all or you'll put on only a token amount that won't even be noticed, while a low metabolism will probably result in some extra weight.
In general then, it can happen, you might just put on a bit of extra weight and some people foolishly shy away from quitting smoking since they've heard this and have then assumed the most terrible - but it doesn't necessarily apply to everybody.
At this point what you should understand is that no matter how much weight if any, you may possibly gain, you ought to still be quitting a noxious and killer tendency. It's just completely absurd that anybody could think a spot of extra weight is more serious than the health-and-looks destroying properties of tobacco.
Your main goal you must remember, is to stop smoking so your body heals itself of the terrible and prematurely ageing effects of tobacco/nicotine addiction - you don't need to be concerned about a couple of extra pounds, you can effortlessly take care of that presently.
However you look at it and no matter the silly excuses you try to make (heard 'em all!), a trifling bit of
possible extra weight is nowhere close to the health menace that smoking most assuredly is.
Let's go even further; no matter what silly excuses anybody could ever make to not refrain from smoking, a bit of extra easily-gotten-rid-of weight is totally insignificant compared to the very real likelihood of gradually and painfully suffocating to death in front of your loved ones!
In summary; worrying about a bit of possible extra weight gain is just plain ridiculous and even though you're bound to find it a little tough at first, being able to kick the habit is much easier than you think – YOU ONLY HAVE TO WANT TO!
Quitting smoking naturally, speedily, and permanently isn't and has never been about overly complicated systems and/or poisonous pills and patches - it's all about simplicity, a little bit of will-power and some genuine tried and tested tobacco-quitting knowledge.
